Why we built Bonsai

Bonsai was born from a deeply personal truth. After losing a close friend to melanoma, our founders asked: Could anything have been done to catch it earlier?

The more we looked, the clearer it became: too many patients miss timely care—not because they don’t want it, but because our healthcare system makes it hard to stay on track. Life is busy. Front office teams are already stretched thin. And without the right tools and data, it’s nearly impossible to identify every patient who needs follow-up and ensure they return for care.

So we asked ourselves: What if AI could close those gaps—making sure every patient who needs care is identified, engaged, and scheduled automatically?

Our Mission

We believe better outcomes start with better systems. Our mission is to help practices deliver the right care at the right time—without overwhelming their staff.

With Bonsai, patients get timely reminders and easier access to care. Front office teams are freed from repetitive tasks and can focus on high-value patient interactions. Practices grow sustainably, supported by automation that runs quietly in the background.

We built Bonsai to ensure that no patient is overlooked, no staff is overburdened, and no opportunity for care is missed.

What Drives Us

We’re driven by a simple vision: a future where front office workflows are fully automated with AI—leading to healthier patients, happier staff, and stronger practices.

Who We Are

Bonsai was founded by Travis Schneider and Luke Kervin—co-founders of PatientPop and Tebra—alongside senior leaders from Modernizing Medicine, PatientPop, and Tebra.

Together, we’ve built platforms trusted by more than 180,000 providers and 50,000 practices. With Bonsai, we’re doing it again—this time with AI at the core.

We are operators, technologists, and healthcare insiders united by a mission to modernize how care is delivered, scheduled, and experienced.

Where We’re Headed

We’re just getting started. As healthcare evolves, Bonsai will continue building intelligent systems that make care more accessible, front offices less overwhelmed, and practices more resilient.

Because every appointment scheduled and kept is an opportunity to change a life.
